I recently ran into the lady whose daughter does the goat rescue thing. She says she talked to the daughter, and the girl doesn't want to give up any of her herd.
"But she has twenty!" the mother told me.
I laughed. What can I say. :P
It's pretty hard to find goat rescues anywhere in this state let alone nearby--though in regards to the sheer volume of things these beasties are good for I can't say I'm very surprised.
I have two numbers and one auction location (recommended by the rescue girl) to check out if I'm so inclined. But our yard still needs a better fence.
Honestly, I've about talked myself out of it. Yes, a goat would bring all the show-stopping adorableness of Kabuki with horns, with the added benefit of lawn-mowing, organic compost, and potentially milk/wool--but it'd also eat the garden I've been sorely neglecting this year, would require periodic vet visits & medications, and basically would be one more thing for me to keep up with when I'm having enough trouble keeping up with myself. So, with priorities in mind, I may just find a place where I can play with one every so often & not worry about ownership . . . just yet. :P
