To do:

  • Call the guy about the local park craft fairs; find out past attendance numbers, about bringing tables, and so on.
  • Get PA tax status together confirmation in 2 days
  • Find and hand off paperwork for the heritage days festival down the road
  • Ponder what it is in the statement "We request 30% of your sales as commission for selling at our event. We do not monitor your sales. The commission paid is on the honor system" that makes me read it as "LIE. LIE EXTRAVAGANTLY." Maybe it's that my profit margin on a lot of not-made-by-me things is at or around 30%, and the things I sell the most of at tribal bellydance shows are--surprise!--the imported authentic tribal pieces. Passed "ponder"; into "epic crankiness."
  • Mail things to Soso-chan
  • Start epic harassment of varying vendors & wholesalers
  • Put Zen to work on helping make stuff Zen now has blisters from the pliers and is on strike.
  • More businessy paperwork stuff, and possibly another wheelie for supplies. (My little pirated-out one is overflowing.) Reworked the holding capacity. Don't ask.
  • Rework the belt stand--again. Fuck it. :P
  • Look into 10' tent

I'm almost out of rings for anklets, I'm running low on hair sticks and don't want to glue more pins or paint more chopsticks, and I'm trying to figure out a new earring design that'd use some of these gemstones from the last Fire Mountain order. Unfortunately, there's no rushing creativity. :P Meh. I guess, then, that it's time for me to go back to cowrie falls.

    XD Wow, they still honor the honor system? Good for them! But I bet they must loose out on a lot of money. >___>;;

But yay for creativity! X3 *can't wait for Otakon!!*

They have to--cuz otherwise, 30% is fucking ridiculous.

Well, that IS ridiculous. Even highly paid agents don't usually ask for that much (ten to fifteen was more common last time I checked). The only way that could conceivably make sense was if it was "profits" rather than "sales". Otherwise, as you pointed out, most vendors would actually lose money.
Well, to be fair, I don't know the profit margins for vendors at anime conventions but I have assisted people who were doing things like flea markets and I must assume it's not too dissimilar (or else everyone would be at the anime conventions selling stuff at ridiculous margins).
Let's see, using Google as a brain extension, I found this:

Apparently the person making that high a percentage demand was hell on the woman running the show, as well--they didn't show up to open the building for seminars (which a lot of people'd paid a lot of money for), etc. On a brighter note, my being exceptionally competent and watching said woman's table @ the show got me and [info]newageamazon in for free.

Huh, that person's journal is full of amusing Twilight hate.
Anyway, it's always good when your enemies make asses of themselves in ways unrelated to your conflict, since people who weren't inclined to pick a side will probably now pick you.

Yeah, she's mentioned a challenge a few times where we produce the second Twilight movie in fifteen minutes & for $50. I wrote most of the script tonight (I was bored) and need to look into casting soon. It's so, so wrong. So very wrong. Also, Oni the doggie is playing Jacob.

Well I'd love to see said script soon, so such scenes should be shown here.
Ah, so close to a perfect sentence.
But I remember that you're 'not my bitch' (and neither is George R. Martin) so I'm merely expressing a polite request.

    :)
Once it's done and she's looked it over too I'll probably post it with a casting call. And photos of Oni.
