Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
To do by Saturday:

  • Crop, post, &/or send pics from ANext Done
  • Take, clip, & send pic of best work for AA gallery for ANext
  • Start mass production mode for flowers (almost completely out of scales) $5 hair sticks (out of lower-end glass beads) $10 level hair sticks, and/or tribal necklaces tired of gem chips & crimp beads. (This involves drilling & painting the 200 or so pairs of blank chopsticks from the Craft Wheelie of D00m.)
  • Car payment.
  • Work on etsy a little
  • Order business cards (since I ran out of those, too)
  • Continue to stare woefully @ FMG and TRL orders. Maybe the internets shall show mercy and magically make them cost less. (Even though I need both of them. All $500 worth.)
  • Call Bernie & confirm times for the Tamalyn Dallal show this Saturday Get there @ 6:30, bring an extra table, bring a cup of mint plants, oh and btw pack.
  • Call Comcast and get a modem that isn't wildly outdated and perpetually hiccuping. Pickup is on Monday. New modem yay!
  • Get my paperwork together for the local 30k+-person craft shows.
  • Post a small rant for [info]newageamazon's online grrl-mag The Riot about the absolute WTFery of the current cnn.com article which states that wives deserve to be cheated on if they are "bad wives". The justification of infidelity with statements like "If we're going to point fingers at men behaving badly, we have to take a look at the women's behavior that may provoke it" may make me set something on fire.
  • EPIC EBAY BATTLE. Seriously, what the shit is this?
im saying the day you get the letter with tracking # is the day they are shipped .. if you look at my feed back you will see that how i do so it was mailed and has not been counted for at post office i i give them all to my post man .. so i said i will take it up with them .. and she u a new nelt ok ?

Three and a half weeks until Otakon. If I walk out of there any less than $3000 up, I've done something terribly wrong--or not done a whole lot of somethings. It will not be the latter.

O____________o; Excuse me? So that automatically means that if my husband's being a shithead, it'll be a-okay for me to cheat on him, huh?

    WTF MORAL SYSTEM?

I'd hate to think of what Zen and I would be "allowed" to do. He threatens my well-being, I threaten to drown him in the lake that is our front yard . . .

Oh yeah! How did yins come out of last night's crazyness? My friend Chrisa had her street a river and her basement and yard are completely destroyed. My parents even had their basement flooded a few inches...

Our front yard was a lake, but that's nothing new, and we have no basement to flood. Our entire road--for almost as far as I could see in either direction--was without power until after midnight, though. I sat outside with our depression-era oil lamps and crafted, and thought about how much it must've sucked two hundred years ago.

the absolute WTFery of the current cnn.com article

That kinda reminds me of the person I was talking to a few weeks back. In a nutshell, my Dad had some problems with his land in KY: a neighbour moved a fence to grab a few hundred yards of Dad's land, counting on the fact that

    i) Dad lives abroad
    2) It would cost a lot of money for Dad to contest this through the courts
    3) An American court would probably back the native landgrabber over the "absentee" landowner anyway

After I'd finished explaining this to the person, they replied - and I kid you not - with, "Well, if your Dad lives abroad and hardly ever visits I can see the neighbour's point."

I was, WTF? If the neighbour wants Dad's land, he should come over and BUY IT FROM HIM FAIR AND SQUARE, not just nick it!

And I feel this bears a rough resemblance to my objections about a partner cheating. If the person can't hack monogamy, they shouldn't get married. If they do get married and it doesn't work out, they have the honorable option of LEAVING. Underhand sneaky behaviour with a retrospective justification of "the other person is not 100% perfect so I can behave badly myself" just doesn't cut it.

    Huge good luck with Otakon!

    What? People are ridiculous.

It's particularly bizarre given that we live in a society that permits divorce. Thus, if someone is actually intolerable as your spouse you should leave them. And if you're not sure you can take that, try a separation first.
It'd be somewhat different were that not an option, but in that case I'd be telling people in unhappy marriages to work things out with their spouses so they both had side people or just changed their names and moved and pretended they were never married.

See, you're doing that logic thing again. Apparently a good number of people are allergic to it.

If I could make people who disagreed with my logic get rashes or have their throats swell up so they can't breathe and may die just by exposing them to it, I'd probably talk in public forums more often.
Well, unless it was the people I liked who simply disagreed because they were clearly misguided and needed more time to be shown the light (of my brilliance).

It always cracks me up. I love a well-made commercial.
There's a radio one for Burgerville I'd look for but I doubt radio ads are on youtube.
"...I met a man on the bus today, I shook his hand. He'll never see his family again..."
