I'm finally taking the steps necessary to be my own business. I've been doing homework on what it means and entails and requires, and I really have to say--the IRS site is hideously inaccessible. It sounds sorta reasonable, then starts throwing about terms that mean nothing to me, then starts rambling on about requirements that may or may not apply to me . . . and I got mad and spent a half hour waiting in the local IRS office in an attempt to talk to a real person.
Then I got mad at the office and left. I was fifth in line, the line consisted of extremely pissy people (enough to make me give 'em berth--and that tells you something) and extremely old people--one of which was older than Moses and was telling the single worker about every health problem he'd had since the year 2000. Literally. D:
I had much more luck wandering down to the local bank and asking them questions. They were clear, they were concise, and they're willing to give me money to get a credit card machine and use them as a small business account. And I want this for ACen--not to mention the ton of other things coming up.
Plus if I'm officially a small business, I can get in at some of the bigger local shows. Like the 30k-40k attendance shows.
. . . Oh crud I need to make more stuff. D:
