So we fiiiinally got to watch Repo! The Genetic Opera yesterday, and dear Dog was that some crazy stuff. I eyerolled, I lolled, I cringed, I threatened to sing along, and Zen and I both cackled and declared that we were going to hell when Anthony Stewart-Head aka Giles from Buffy stuffed his arm up a body he was de-organing to make it his counterpoint-singing puppet.
(No, this isn't a show for everyone.)
What can I say? The costuming was awesome, the visuals were impressive and vaguely disturbing (OMG, Sarah Brightman's eyeballs!), and Paris Hilton was even pretty cool. Watching Anthony Stewart-Head was very much like watching Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde having a duet. Yes, it could've used some polish in places (y helo thar wobbly tombstones), but if you don't go in expecting the pinnacle of Western civilization's artistic ventures you'll probably cringe and lol along as well.
(Also, the fanlust directed at Terrance Zdunich aka Graverobber makes me giggle as well. Three cheers for eyeliner!)
