out to harness the power of the internet
My college roommate's cousins have gone missing. They were supposed to be spending the weekend with their father, and he was supposed to bring them back home at 6pm on Sunday, January 18th. They're still not back. The father isn't answering his phone. I'm not at liberty to discuss the allegations that've been brought against this guy, but CPS is currently investigating him and all of us in the loop have gotten every impression that the two little boys are in danger.
But still, Lorain County's Sheriff's department refused to issue an Amber Alert: First because my friend's cousin needed to present paperwork for proof of custody (as it's a holiday, she couldn't get to an open courthouse to do so), and then because the father has visitation rights; thus a certain timeframe has to pass before they'll formally declare this a kidnapping. ETA: Now the Sheriff's department is telling her that this is a civil matter, not criminal, no matter that the father's visitiation hours are up and that Sunday and Tuesday are certainly not one and the same. This means she has to get a lawyer--which no one can afford.
So this post and these forwards just got really fucking important.
But time keeps going by, and none of us have any idea where the boys are.
Look at these kids. Look at how young they are. They're both in therapy because of their father.

The older boy's name is Ethan Krafcik, and he's four years old. He'll be five next week. The younger boy is Wes Krafcik, and he's three. Their father, Josh, was last seen driving a blue four-door Dodge Dakota.
All we can really do now is bank on the possibility that someone somewhere's seen these two kids. Repost &/or link to this if you want/can, and if you get the cell phone forward with the same pic then please pass it on. Finally, if you have any information regarding the whereabouts of these two little boys, please contact Rikki Ford at 440-204-8251 or Lorain County Sheriff's Department at 440-329-3709. If anything changes, I'll post about it here.
ETA: Holy shit! It worked! The call for help in all its forms--cell phone, twitter, internet--got pinged off enough people who knew the guy, and enough people were able to get a hold of him to flat-out shame him into bringing the kids back safely. Also, their mother now has emergency custody until this can be brought to trial. Thanks to whoever helped get the word out!
