movieness

The boy and I had a bit of a literature section movie marathon. First off was No Country for Old Men. I may have to read the book . . . because when the movie ended and the credits started rolling, I turned to Zen and said "What the hell was that?"

There Will Be Blood went a little better, I guess. At the end of that I turned to Zen and said, "Did I miss something?" But the characters showed more development in that one, even though a good number of them were completely nuts and/or utterly reprehensible.

Bah, literature.

Last up was Sweeney Todd. I sat down worried but ended up pleasantly surprised. The costuming and songs generally made me giggle, the black humor made me giggle, and I didn't see the exact twist of the ending coming at all. There were a couple in-story questions about things that were basically just thrown in to up the level of macabre (such as the pie shop being like Wendy's, in a way) and some of the gore was unnecessary, but overall I'd say it trumps the other two. If anything, because of Johnny Depp's old-time black & white striped bathing suit. He looked so ridiculously dejected while wearing it that I had to laugh and might have to make an icon.

I also got a handful of things done, because I am incapable of sitting still for very long. So I apologize in advance to the Lj feed people, because I have a heavy-duty and pic-heavy dreadfall tutorial to drop here relatively soon. :P

Sanctioned abuse = “freedom of religion”?
